Five Signs of Emotional Suffering
Resource Properties
This two-page handout educates people about mental health. It uses simple text descriptions and face icons to help people identify five signs of emotional suffering in others. This approach can help people recognize behavioral health issues such as depression, mental disorders, anxiety, emotional suffering, suicidal ideation, trauma, and addictive disorder. The handout encourages people to reach out, access help, and support those with mental health challenges. The Five Signs of Emotional Suffering handout is also available as a one-page poster in Nepali and Spanish.
The Nepali translation was led by the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, in collaborative partnership with the Bhutanese Nepali Community of Columbus, OH. The Spanish translation was reviewed by mental health professionals who are also native Spanish speakers.
