Life Skills for Burundian Refugees, Volume 1: A Guide for Facilitators

Resource Properties

Abstract:

This eleven-page guide gives service providers a program of life skills materials to use with Burundian refugees adjusting to resettlement communities in the U.S. When used in groups with a facilitator, it enhances the learning experience for participants by encouraging further discussion, questions, and participatory activities. The guide addresses eight topics: the role of the resettlement agency, personal care in the U.S., nutrition, health, adjusting to a new home, safety and emergencies, housing, and employment. Objectives, issues for further review, discussion topics, activities, and evaluation questions are provided for each topic. The USCRI's complete Life Skills for Burundian Refugees resource is also available at www.refugees.org.
