Somali Bantu Community Orientation Curriculum, Attachment 2: Issues Related to Somalis and Somali Bantu

Resource Properties

Abstract:

This one-page English-language document educates service providers working with refugees in the Somali Bantu Community Orientation program about issues related to Somalis and Somali Bantu. It outlines the history of enmity between these two groups, and discusses approaches resettlement agencies can take to help them overcome deeply held beliefs and develop a better understanding of the other. It is recommended that relationships be initially facilitated between a few people who can then play a leadership role in establishing partnerships between the larger communities. The USCRI's complete Somali Bantu Community Orientation Curriculum is also available at www.refugees.org
