Abstract:

This two-page report informs service providers working with refugees from Cuba. It provides a historical timeline (1492-2015), brief descriptions of methods of torture used in that country, and a synopsis of current conditions and pertinent issues facing Cuban refugees. It discusses the country's current situation, including government control, freedom of expression, human rights observers, journalists, the convention against torture and other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment, and political prisoners.
