Abstract:

This two-page report informs service providers working with refugees from Colombia. It provides a historical timeline (1718-2015), brief descriptions of methods of torture used in that country, and a synopsis of current conditions and pertinent issues facing Colombian refugees. It discusses the country's current situation, including sexual violence and human rights abuses, guerrilla and paramilitary groups, security forces, prevalent and systemic sexual violence, and land restitution laws.
