This web page, based on a World Health Organization online question and answer session from 20 January 2016 and updated on 19 September 2016, educates people about Zika virus disease. It discusses where the virus occurs and how it is transmitted, and provides information about the Ades mosquito. It identifies symptoms of Zika virus disease, health complications, and addresses concerns for pregnant women and Zika. Disease diagnosis, treatment, protection, and prevention are discussed. The document identifies key issues in understanding Zika virus, and WHO work to address the virus.
