Resource Properties

Abstract:

This English-language web page (which is also available as a Spanish-language PDF) gives healthcare providers approaches to giving accurate information and resources about both Zika virus and managing stress to women who are pregnant or who want to conceive. It offers communication tips for providers, including Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) clinical guidance for conducting a risk assessment for Zika exposure, approaches to showing empathy, providing reassurance, and screening for anxiety and depression. It provides several stress management strategies providers can offer to pregnant women and their partners, and links to screening tools available for depression, stress, and anxiety during pregnancy. Links to Zika virus resources from the CDC, the World Health Organization, and the National Library of Medicine's MedlinePlus are provided.
