Choose MyPlate: 10 Tips to a Great Plate
This one-page tip sheet educates people about making healthier food choices. It uses MyPlate, the federal government’s food icon, to help people balance their calories, choose foods to eat more often, and foods to eat less often. It discusses portion size, choosing fruits and vegetables, fat-free or low-fat milk, and whole grains, comparing sodium in foods, and drinking water instead of sugary drinks.
The English version was revised in October 2016, and updated with the 2015-2020 Dietary Guidelines. The translations have not been updated, and are consistent with the 2010 Dietary Guidelines. For more information, visit the USDA MyPlate Other Languages page.
