Abstract:

This sixty-page report studies how sixty hospitals across the country address the challenges associated with cultural and language barriers. Its framework helps organizations assess their current practices and take action to provide high quality care to the populations they serve. It examines four themes to help hospitals and other health care organizations develop and improve practices that address the needs of diverse patients: building a foundation, collecting and using data to improve services, accommodating the needs of specific populations, and establishing internal and external collaborations.
