Abstract:

This two-page Vaccine Information Statement (VIS) educates people about the chickenpox (varicella) vaccine. It describes chickenpox symptoms, transmission, and effects. It discusses who should receive the vaccine and when, providing a vaccination schedule for children. It identifies who should not get vaccinated, risks and side effects, and what to look for and what to do in the event of a serious reaction. Contact information for the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program (VICP) is provided, along with tips for how people can learn more about the chickenpox vaccine.
