Abstract:

This four-page handout provides instructions to patients who need to collect sputum, which is the thick material from deep in the lungs, for testing. It contains instructions for how the patient should collect sputum samples in separate containers over the course of three mornings, and what they should do after getting the samples. The document includes a place where the healthcare provider can write down the address for where the containers will need to be taken.
