Abstract:

This seven-page illustrated handout instructs people with lower back pain about how to safely perform daily activities as well as exercise and rehabilitation. It uses simple text and illustrations to show correct and incorrect ways to move without increasing low back pain. The document contains guidance on sitting, standing, lifting, laying down, bending forward, coughing and sneezing, and driving a car. It includes instructions on exercises for low back pain, with checkboxes where a health care provider can indicate which exercises should be done. Text and illustrations describe press-ups, double knee to chest, lumbar spine stretches, the side laying position, hamstring stretch, and standing arch.
