Living With Chronic Hepatitis B
This eight-panel brochure educates patients and their loved ones about living with chronic hepatitis B. It provides basic information about hepatitis B, which is an inflammation of the liver caused by the hepatitis B virus (HBV), and explains that if the virus remains in the blood for more than six months the person can develop chronic HBV infections. The document discusses HBV blood tests, the role of the health care provider, and available treatments. It provides recommendations about diet and alcohol, health management, prevention, pregnancy, and other special precautions persons with HBV can take, such as receiving the hepatitis A vaccine.
