Sirens and Telephone Alerts

Resource Properties

Abstract:

This one-page handout with accompanying audio and video educates people about emergency preparedness with sirens and telephone alerts. It explains that outdoor warning sirens are for chemical spills, severe weather, and other outdoor emergencies, and discusses what to do when sirens sound. CodeRED and Reverse 911 systems are identified as ways local officials use the telephone to warm people of emergencies.
