Drinking and Driving Laws
This two-page handout educates people about the effect of drinking alcohol on the brain and body, and explains United States laws pertaining to drinking and driving a motor vehicle. It discusses the factors involved in determining a person's blood alcohol concentration (BAC), and uses an illustrated chart to show that drinks of differing sizes can count as one drink based on the percent of "pure" alcohol they contain. The document identifies the penalties and sanctions a person can experience if convicted of driving while intoxicated (DWI), and clarifies that getting arrested for DWI can have negative consequences on a person's immigration status.
