You have TB infection (a type of TB)

Resource Properties

Abstract:

This two-page handout uses text and illustrations to educate people who have tested positive for latent tuberculosis (TB) infection about the importance of accepting treatment. It explains that though someone with TB infection does not feel sick and cannot spread it to others, they must take medicine to prevent it from turning into TB disease. The document describes TB disease symptoms, and clarifies that it can be spread to others.

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health (MDPH) Division of Global Populations and Infectious Disease field-tested this health information material with refugees and immigrants.

MDPH also offers TB Infection Patient Educational Materials: Tip Sheet for Providers. This two-page PDF gives service providers working with patients at risk for latent TB infection tips for how to use TB information resources developed by MDPH. It explains the goals of the materials and how they were designed, and outlines the purpose, information, and suggested uses of each handout, providing links to PDFs that can be downloaded or printed. The document includes tips to help providers talk to refugees and immigrants about TB infection.
