Vaccine Information Statement (VIS) -- Anthrax Vaccine: What You Need to Know
This two-page Vaccine Information Statement (VIS) educates people about the vaccine for anthrax, a serious disease that can affect animals and humans, caused by the Bacillus anthracis bacteria. It explains how people can get anthrax, identifies the different forms of the disease, and discusses who should be vaccinated with the anthrax vaccine and when, who should not get the vaccine, risks and side effects, and what to look for and what to do in the event of a severe allergic reaction. Contact information for the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) and the Countermeasures Injury Compensation Program is provided, along with tips for how people can learn more about the anthrax vaccine.
The English-language VIS was created by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases. The translations are provided by the Immunization Action Coalition (IAC) and its partner organizations.
A qualified translation company performed an independent review by a second translator, and a client advocate.
